A Level Digital Technology
Digital Technology is an A level which will advance learners’ understanding of the ever-changing range of digital technology used by individuals and organisations across the world. There are both written examinations and Non Examined assessments (NEA) in both years 12 and 13, representing 20% each in year 12 and 30% each in year 13.
Unit 1: Innovation in Digital Technology
- Connected digital systems and smart devices;
- The development of Artificial Intelligence;
- User-centred design, user experience, and human-computer interaction in digital systems development;
- Functions, purposes and uses of social media by individuals and organisations.
Unit 2: Creative Digital practices
- Investigating games;
- Planning games;
- Creating games;
- Making informed design decisions;
- Testing and developing games;
- Refining and reviewing games;
- Presenting outcomes.
Unit 3: Connected Systems
- Contemporary practices involving collecting, storing, analysing and using data;
- Cyber security;
- Digital technology networks.
Unit 4: Digital Solutions
- Investigating transactional websites;
- The design of transactional websites;
- The capture, storage and processing of data;
- The use of RDBMS database systems, scripting languages, and SQL;
- Developing and reviewing transactional websites
- Testing, refining and evaluating transactional websites;
- Presenting outcomes.
