In our ‘Spotlight on a Subject’ series, learners past and present reflect on their experiences studying different subjects at Pencoed 6th Form Centre. Here, Chloe Wintle, from the Class of 2024, looks back on her time studying Physical Education.
I chose PE, as when I first chose my A Levels, I was unsure as to what I wanted to do after 6th Form.
Taking PE has opened the door to many different career pathways, and not just sports related; for example, paramedic science or even a role in the police force.
I have mostly enjoyed the coursework as it can easily be broken down into sections which makes it much less intimidating, and gives me more confidence to complete work outside of the lessons, not rely on the teachers to help me.
The staff within PE ensure that the way they teach is tailored to how we learn, and they adjust their teaching methods and techniques to our needs. They also ensure we understand the work and if it’s needed they are willing to spend more time to help us.
From studying this course I have learned essential skills regarding how to coach effectively, and how to put what we learn into real life situations. Overall, PE is a great subject to study, with supportive staff who are willing to work with you to reach your desired grades. It can help you, whatever you may want to do in the future.
